Turkey has denied Israel’s request for President Isaac Herzog’s plane to use Turkish airspace for the Israeli president’s flight to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to attend the COP29 climate summit.
Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency reported that officials, whom it did not name, confirmed that Israeli authorities had submitted a request for Herzog’s plane to cross Turkish airspace en route to the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference.
However, as he notes, the Turkish authorities rejected his request.
Yesterday, the Israeli president’s office announced that Herzog had canceled his planned trip to Baku to attend COP29 for “security reasons”.
