Al Jazeera news agency reported that Turkey and Egypt have appointed ambassadors to both countries to restore diplomatic relations at the highest level.
In a joint statement released by the Turkish Foreign Ministry on July 4, it said Turkey had nominated Salih Mutlu Sen as its ambassador to Cairo. Egypt nominated Mr. Amr. Elhamami is Ambassador to Ankara.
“The upgrading of diplomatic relations between the two countries has been made in accordance with the decision of the presidents of Turkey and Egypt. to restore relations between the two countries and reflects the common intention to improve bilateral relations in the interests of the peoples of Turkey and Egypt.”
Regional rivals Turkey and Egypt have initiated a reconciliation process since 2020, having held a series of ministerial-level talks in 2023 and sending friendly messages. and openly negotiated the reestablishment of full diplomatic relations.
