Turin: first city in Italy to have Uber Taxi and Uber Black

Uber announced the launch of the service Uber Black a Torino which joins Uber Taxi present since October 2018. Thanks to this novelty, the city of Turin is the first in Italy to have the dual service offered by the American company. Uber Black is already active also in Rome, Milan and Bologna. Uber Taxi, on the other hand, is also available in Naples.

Thanks to this important novelty, people who have to move in Turin will be able to take advantage of the features of Uber Black (operated by car owners with NCC licenses), including the possibility of receiving information on the driver, the model of the car and know the fare in advance, divide the cost of the ride and view the route of your journey. Moreover, thanks to the “anonymization” system, passengers and drivers will be able to get in touch with each other, either by phone or chat, without sharing the phone number.

The service allows you to access Uber’s safety toolkit and get assistance if needed. The company highlights how Uber Black follows tight sanitary measures to protect both passengers and drivers. For example, there is an obligation for drivers to wear a mask with relative control tramite mask verification before starting the activity. The cars are sanitized and inside, customers will be able to find hand sanitizers.

Drivers will be able to cancel a trip without penalty if a customer does not wear a mask or face cover. Users are provided with a feedback system to report cases where a driver is not wearing a mask. To access Uber Black in Turin, just:

  • Open the Uber app
  • Choose a destination
  • Find out the final price in advance
  • Confirm the ride

Lorenzo Pireddu, Uber Head of Italy, commented:

The arrival of our Black service in Turin represents an important development in the expansion path of the offer of our products and services in Italy and takes place at a time when we are recording a significant growth in requests for mobility, in conjunction with the post reopening lockdown of the different activities. We will continue to work to propose, in more and more Italian cities, our mobility platform so that more and more people can organize their travels directly from our application in a reliable and safe way.
