Turin clashes, Police working to identify participants

(ANSA) – TURIN, NOV 16 – The Digos investigators of the Turin police headquarters are at work, viewing videos and images, to identify the participants in the riots that broke out yesterday during the student procession that marched through the streets of the Piedmontese capital. As far as we know, the demonstration, which was attended by around four hundred people, changed its route in violation of the provisions of the public security authority, heading towards objectives such as the prefecture, the RAI headquarters and the Mole Antonelliana, where they moments of greatest tension with the police were recorded. According to investigators, the management of the Askatasuna social center was behind the events, which took the lead of the procession, diverting the route. Among the most critical moments were those under the prefecture building, in Piazza Castello, where some protesters clashed with the police. And it was in that episode that a sort of capsule was launched from which a stinging smoke was released. Twenty officers had to seek medical attention. Targeted investigations are underway on the capsule to understand if it is actually a homemade device, as was initially said, or if there is another type of origin. We are also proceeding to identify whoever took down the Italian flag from the flagpole at the entrance to the Mole Antonelliana, home of the Cinema Museum. For this gesture, the crime of contempt of the flag is hypothesized, as the tricolor had been defaced with red paint and pro-Palestine writings. (HANDLE).
