In a surprising turn of events, jockey Yutaka Take (54) suffered an injury to his right leg during the races at Tokyo Racecourse on October 29th. As a result, he had to be replaced for all three races after the 9th race. This includes his scheduled ride on Doudeuse in the upcoming Tenno Sho (Autumn). In his place, jockey Keita Tosaki (43) from Miho Training Center will take over the reins.
The incident occurred after Take dismounted from his ride on Black Rise (a 2-year-old colt trained by Hisashi Shimizu from Ritto Training Center) following the 5th race. It was reported that he was kicked by the horse, causing the injury. Initially, Take had a positive attitude towards continuing his rides, but after undergoing medical examinations, it was determined that he would not be able to ride.
Expressing his disappointment, Take said, “It’s unfortunate. This is the first time I’ve been kicked while dismounting. I’ve had close calls before, but this is a new experience. I thought I could still ride, but the pain and swelling increased rapidly. It’s a shame. Fortunately, there are no fractures, so I will focus on recovering as soon as possible.”
The news of Take’s injury and subsequent replacement has caused a stir in the horse racing community, especially with the prestigious Tenno Sho (Autumn) just around the corner. Fans and experts are now eagerly anticipating how Tosaki will perform as a substitute jockey for Doudeuse in the upcoming race.
Take, a legendary jockey with numerous accolades to his name, is known for his skill and expertise in the sport. His absence from the races is sure to be felt, but his determination to make a swift recovery gives hope to his fans and supporters.
The horse racing community will be closely following the progress of Take’s recovery and the performance of Tosaki as they prepare for the Tenno Sho (Autumn) on November 5th.
