Sinsheim (dpa) – Turbine Potsdam suffered a sensitive setback in the fight for third place and the associated Champions League participation. On Sunday, the fourth in the women’s soccer division lost to direct opponents TSG Hoffenheim 0: 5 (0: 3) at the start of the second half of the season. The Kraichgau women are now three points ahead of Turbine in third place in the table. However, Potsdam has played one game less and could draw level with Hoffenheim with a win in the catch-up game against Bremen.
In the 18th minute, Turbine fell 1-0 down in the empty Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion due to the currently most successful Bundesliga scorer Nicole Billa. In return, Melissa Kössler had the chance to equalize, but the striker headed the TSG goalkeeper Janina Leitzig in the arms (20th). Then Lena Lattwein scored an untenable 2-0 into the Turbine goal from 25 meters (30th). Shortly before the break, after a corner in the crowd in the Potsdam penalty area, Billa switched the fastest, scored the break with her 14th goal of the season (42.)
After the brilliant first half, the second part of the game went largely without the big highlights. On the Potsdam side, the shots from captain Merle Barth (52nd) and Selina Cerci (87th) were as good as the only options. For a long time it looked as if Hoffenheim was also satisfied with the clear lead, before Maximiliane Rall (89th) and Anne Fühner (90th + 5) did something for the Hoffenheim goal difference with their goals to make the final 5-0 .
