Fire hits the biggest mall building in Surabaya, Tunjungan Plaza (TP). The part of the building that was engulfed in flames was the TP 5 building.
An eye witness at the location, Michael said the fire began to be seen at around 17.40 WIB, Wednesday (13/4). He and his other colleagues immediately evacuated themselves.
“When it happened we were immediately told to run out, from the 3rd floor down through the emergency exit,” Michael told CNNIndonesia.com.
Michael, who is an employee of a restaurant in TP, said the source of the fire came from the top floor. But he didn’t know for sure.
“It looks like the 7th floor and above. I only had time to see it was thick,” he said.
While one of the firefighters at the location said the fire also came from the top floor of one of the buildings.
“From the top floor itself, a door fell and grabbed the floor below it,” he said.
So far, dozens of PMK cars have been deployed, and there are also two Bronto Skylift cars. Firefighters are still trying to put out the fire.
