Nabil Maaloul, the coach of the Tunisian Esperance team, officially announced his resignation from coaching the team after it fell 3-0 to Al-Ahly, in the match that took place yesterday evening, Friday, at Hammadi Al-Aqrabi Stadium in Rades, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

Maaloul wrote through his official account on the social networking site “Facebook”: “I understand the sadness and disappointment of Esperance after this difficult loss, and I apologize to all the fans for not being able to bring joy last night to the hearts of our ancient fans.”

Maaloul added, “In the recent period, the task was not easy for me and the rest of the technical framework and players for several reasons that are too long to explain in the current circumstance, but I tried with all my power to find appropriate solutions, overcome difficulties, and achieve the best possible results.”

The Tunisian coach explained: “I answered the call of duty when my team needed me in a difficult period at the end of the last season. Praise be to God. We succeeded in some things and failed in other things, and people make mistakes and are right.”

Nabil Maaloul concluded, saying: “In the interest of the Tunisian sports team, Esperance, I decided to withdraw and submit my resignation to the club president.

On the other hand, Swiss Marcel Koller added a new hat-trick during his leadership of Al-Ahly in the African Champions League, as the first hat-trick was by winning the 32nd round over the Tunisian Monastiri Union by 3-0 in the return match in Cairo, before winning the last group match against Al-Hilal of Sudan with the same result. It qualifies for the quarter-finals, and Al-Ahly added a new hat-trick by defeating the Tunisian Esperance Club in its own backyard, with three free goals.
