The Tunisian artist, Fathi El Hadawi, attacked his compatriot residing in Egypt Dorra Zarrouk During a ceremony honoring them at the International Film Festival in Hammamet in the Nabeul governorate, northeastern Tunisia.
Al-Hedawi said in his speech during the ceremony, which was broadcast on state television, on Saturday, that “it is meaningless to honor Dora in the centenary of Tunisian cinema.”
While he considered that she “did not present anything to the seventh art in his country,” calling on the festival’s management to reconsider the “Creativity Outside the Homeland Award” that was awarded to her.
Immediately after that, the actress and artist, Dora, left the honoring ceremony, in a move indicating her annoyance with Hadawi’s criticism, according to local media.
It is noteworthy that the star of drama and cinema, Fathi El Hadawi, had expressed on previous occasions his refusal to transfer Tunisian artists to Egypt.
Where he considered, “They will become stars, but without leaving any artistic trace, unlike their work in Tunisia,” as he described it.
