Tunisian Anas Jabeur, the runner-up of last year’s defending champion, came from behind to beat Bianca Andreescu 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to preserve her hopes of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
Andreescu was the better side at the start against Anas, who last year became the first Arab player to reach a Grand Slam final.
But the sixth seed regained control by breaking her Canadian opponent midway through the second set before leveling the match.
Andreescu prevailed in the deciding set and took a break lead, but squandered her advantage with a double fault before rain came and stopped the match on Center Court.
As play resumed, Anas narrowly held her serve and then broke Andreescu’s serve without losing a point to advance 5-4.
Anas decided her qualification to the fourth round, where she will face Petra Kvitova, the winner of the title twice.
