Lawyer Fawzi Jaballah, a member of the Ennahda Shura Council, confirmed yesterday that his private office was vandalized, and that the attackers used black paint to mark the office door last night.
Jaballah wrote on Facebook: “I hope there is safety for the rest of the lawyers who were incited and whose names were collectively released after they were falsely accused.”
Adding that he was attacked because he had risen against the measures adopted by the president in the country, which according to Ennahda are unconstitutional. Adding: “As they did with some judges who protested the violation of procedures against colleagues.”
On July 25, Tunisian President Kais Saied used article 80 of the Constitution to remove Prime Minister Hicham Mechichi, freeze Parliament for 30 days, lift the immunity of ministers, and appoint himself head of the executive branch until the formation of a new government.

This comes after violent protests broke out in several Tunisian cities criticizing the government’s management of the economy and the coronavirus. The protesters had called for the dissolution of Parliament.
Most of the country’s political parties dismissed the measure as a “coup against the Constitution” and against the achievements of the 2011 revolution.
