Good news in a gloomy atmosphere! The IMF has just signed the letter of intent with the Tunisian party! Without declaring victory too soon, this agreement will in principle open the door to bilateral loans for Tunisia, in particular with Germany, Japan and Saudi Arabia, pending the implementation of reforms and the completion of discussions for a final agreement.
Tunisia is aiming for a loan of 3 to 4 billion dollars over 4 years from the IMF.
But as Marouane El Abbassi recalled in a recent informal meeting with journalists, the next few months will be decisive.
It is up to Tunisians to prove their good faith by taking reforms seriously.
