Tunisia: Approval of an IBRD loan

The Assembly of People’s Representatives (ARP) adopted during a plenary session held yesterday, Tuesday, October 17, the Guarantee Agreement between Tunisia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), collecting 84 votes for, 29 votes against and 15 abstentions.
This agreement will allow the National Sanitation Office (ONAS) to benefit from a loan of 113.6 million euros (approximately 377.6 million Tunisian dinars).
Signed on June 2, 2023, this loan is part of a public-private partnership aimed at modernizing sanitation services in Tunisia.
The total cost of the project, estimated at 1,812 million Tunisian dinars, will be financed jointly by the State, IBRD and ONAS. This ambitious initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities, with the creation of 150 jobs planned for its first phase and 233 more for its second.
Note that the repayment of this loan will be spread over a period of 25 years, with a grace period of 10 years included.
