Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar stressed the importance of preserving the interests of the Tunisian community in France. This occurred during Ammar’s meeting with the French ambassador to Tunisia, Anne Guangan, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported in a statement released by the ministry.
The minister raised “the issue of the new immigration law recently adopted by the French Parliament and its potential impact on the Tunisian community residing in France”, and underlined the importance of ensuring the ease and speed of the visa issuing process from the French embassy in your country.
Last December, the French Parliament approved a controversial immigration bill, which provides for more restrictive procedures for immigrants.
Ammar touched on the issue of funds looted abroad, money exported by the dictatorship, and underlined the “absolute priority” that his country gives to the recovery of these funds, calling on the French authorities to collaborate further in this field.
For her part, the French ambassador expressed her country’s “full” willingness to continue developing cooperative relations with Tunisia in all fields, especially economic ones, and to work to address challenges within the framework of a partnership equal.
