SFAX (Tunisia). Italy and Tunisia discussed how to implement a pilot project for the recruitment of about 40 Tunisians in economic institutions in Italy operating in the construction and public works sector.
This was announced by the Tunisian Ministry of Labor and Training following a meeting between the Italian ambassador in Tunisia, Fabrizio Saggio, which took place on Friday with the head of the minister’s cabinet, Abdelkader al-Jamali.
According to the press release, “during the meeting, methods were discussed to implement a model project to hire about 40 young graduates in vocational training among those enrolled in Tunisian employment offices, to be included in economic institutions in Italy active in the construction and public Works”.
The press release quotes Saggio, who states that “For this reason, supplementary training courses on the Italian language and on safety systems in public works will be organized, provided that they are hired by the end of 2023”. “The success of this pilot project – continued the ambassador – will open the door to thousands of Tunisians to be employed in Italy in various economic sectors in the context of the implementation of the partnership agreement”.
Saggio appreciated the “quality of Tunisian skills”, expressing “the breadth of their contribution to the development of the competitive capacities of economic institutions”, and affirmed his country’s readiness for further cooperation with Tunisia in the field of employment of talents in various economic sectors.
For his part, al-Jamali underlined, according to the same statement, “the need for the success of this experiment as a model to meet the needs of institutions in terms of human resources with the speed and efficiency required, and to contribute to the growth and the competitiveness of the institutions concerned”.
The unemployment rate in Tunisia increased during the first quarter of 2023 to 16.1%, compared to 15.2% in the last quarter of 2022.
