The man is stately and probably also strong, but at the trial at the St. Pölten Regional Court he sits like a heap of misery in the dock. He came without a lawyer, because the situation is clear, the 56-year-old shows contrite and confesses comprehensively, although he cannot remember all the facts.
The wealthy farmers suffered a private blow of fate. After 35 years of marriage, his wife moved out of the shared bedroom and moved into the former children’s room.
The Tullnerfelder could not cope with this circumstance. He’s a dry alcoholic, any sip would be dangerous for him. And yet: “I drank for two days.”
He had lost none of its romance: “I wanted to cuddle with my wife.”
So he took a hammer and let it crash against the door of the former children’s room six times in a row. Then the tiredness overwhelmed him and he went into the former common bedroom.
The frightened woman waited for deep sleep to begin and then alerted the police.

Four officers from the St. Andrä-Wierter and Tulln inspections brought the farmer out of his sleep and issued instructions that the man could not understand. He fought hard, so the police had to handcuff him and lead him away. In the process, the accused of resisting state power uttered threats: “I’ll break your skull in!” Or “I’ll break your nose.”
The memory of it is missing: “I only know that four police officers came into the bedroom, then I woke up in the psychiatric department of the Tulln Clinic.”
The alcohol test left no doubt: 3.35 per mille.
The man apologized to each of the police officers at the trial: “I am aware of my guilt, I drank too much alcohol. I have great respect for the police, my brother has been an executive officer in Vienna for 40 years. “
“Conditional penalty like yellow card”
The judge sentenced the man to a conditional prison sentence of three months: “It’s like a yellow card in football.” The farmer has to continue addiction therapy that has already started.
