On the weekend of September 18-20, the cinema city “Cinevilla” will host a cinema community or cinema creativity marathon, in which 10 teams will create their own short film in 48 hours.
Already on Sunday, September 20, the jury of professionals will choose the team that will receive the main prize – 1000 euros (before taxes) from Tukums municipality. A technology and entertainment company Tet 500 euros will be donated to the winners of the main prize and the winning short film will be shown on the largest entertainment platform in Latvia Shortcut, which offers an ever-widening range of local content on its platforms each year.
The closing event and award ceremony of the creative challenge “Tukums 48h cinema community in Cineville” will take place on Sunday at 17.00 in the heart of Tukums, in the yard of the new cultural space TUKKU MAGI (Pasta Street 26). The event will feature the best short films made in Tukums region during 48 hours, and viewers will be able to vote for their sympathy award. The team – the winner of the Audience Award – will have the opportunity to implement a cinematic idea in the Cinevilla Cinema City.
The jury consists of the director and artist of the Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS program Laima Graždanoviča, artist and set designer Katrīna Neiburga, film director Juris Poškus, screenwriter Lote Eglīte, as well as producer and director Andrejs Ēķis.
“In this format, the film community takes place for the first year. In the future, we intend to make the film community an impressive creative competition, attracting participants and a jury from abroad. We want creative and crazy people who want to conquer the tops of world cinema to take part here! I think that next year “Tukums 48h cinema community in Cineville” will gain an international dimension. 48-hour film production marathons are a very topical format in the world, where new talents are discovered, creative collaborations are formed and destinations of tourism and film industry are popularized. We are grateful to Tukums County Council, which sees the potential of this event and provides us with support! ” reveals producer, film community initiator Andrejs Ēķis.
During the film workshop or creative marathon, the creative teams will have to create a short film on a topic that has not been discovered yet, as well as include an important place or sight in Tukums. The aim of the creative workshop is to promote the shooting of new, innovative short films, popularize interest in Latvian architecture, natural landscape and environmental design, as well as create new opportunities for cooperation and exchange of ideas in the field of advertising, music video and short film production.
The cinema community is organized by the Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS and Tukums Municipality in cooperation with the Cinema City “Cinevilla”, but the special prize is provided by the technology and entertainment company Tet.
The gathering on Sunday, September 20, in the courtyard of TUKKU MAGI will start at 16.00, with the visitors discovering the new cultural place and co-creating a work of art, and will continue after the award ceremony – around 18.00 “Rihards Lībietis Orchestra” will perform. There will be two cafes. In the evening, the organizers invite you to take care of your own coziness and comfort by taking blankets and seating.
