TUI wants to see money and takes D-trips to court | NOW

Tour operator TUI wants money back from travel agency chain D-travels and is going to court for this. TUI confirms this after reporting The Telegraph. In addition to a lawsuit, TUI is also putting D travel under pressure by suspending the agreement. As a result, D-Reizen can no longer sell tours of the tour operator.

According to TUI, there have been signs for some time that there are “problems with the refund of travel sums to travelers whose holiday has been canceled”. The tour operator already talked to D-Reizen about this last year and TUI recently claims to have again insisted on a structural solution, but according to the company, D-Reizen has not responded.

D-Reizen has not refunded customer deposits for travel canceled by tour operators due to the corona crisis but has given vouchers for it. The company was not allowed to do this, the judge recently ruled in summary proceedings against D-Reizen against the Stichting Garantiefonds Reisgelden (SGR) and the State. In it, D-Travels hoped to enforce that the vouchers issued by the travel agents are also covered by the upcoming voucher fund.

In addition to TUI, Corendon is also canceling the agreements with D-trips, which means that the travel agency chain can no longer offer them holidays either. “Our lawyers are now considering whether we will join the TUI lawsuit against the D-rt Group,” said Corendon CEO Steven van der Heijden.
