Jakarta –
Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan formalize the transfer Monument 66. On that occasion, Anies explained why the historical monument was moved from Jalan Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, to Menteng Park, Central Jakarta.
The inauguration ceremony for the relocation of Tugu 66 himself was held in Menteng Park in central Jakarta on Wednesday (5/10/2022). In addition to Anies, the event was attended by numerous figures, including figures from the student movement of the 66, such as Akbar Tandjung, Laskar Ampera, member of the DPD RI Fahira Idris, BEM Nusantara, as well as elements of the related regional organizations.
Anies initially communicated that the presence of the Tugu 66 Monument was actually a memorial to the journey of Indonesian history. However, viewing of the statue was hampered due to the LRT construction project in the Rasuna Said area.

“In fact, this was discussed at length, meeting all of our senior fighters, 66 fighters, who told us about the condition of the monument in the Rasuna Said area, which was under construction at the time and so on so that it was the presence as a monument reduced its effectiveness, “he said on the spot.
“The monument is one of his duties to give us a warning, there is a building that we can see and then remember. Well, this is problematic and we will pass it on, God willing, and carry on with the process,” added Anies.
After considering various things, it was finally decided that the monument should be moved to Menteng Park in central Jakarta. The transfer process itself is carried out by the DKI Jakarta Cultural Service according to the applicable procedures.
“After a long period of determination, we will finally formalize the transfer on 5 October,” he said.
The idea of relocating the monument was originally initiated by the late Fahmi Idris. The Golkar politician suggested that the DKI Jakarta provincial government move the monument to a new, more suitable location. Until the end, Menteng Park was chosen as the new spot to place the Tritura Monument (Three People’s Requests) or Tugu 66.
“With the collaboration of various parties, the transfer of Tugu 66 from Jalan Rasuna Said to Taman Menteng has been successfully accomplished. Thanks to all who have been involved so far for working with us in the provincial government to complete it. Project This is done together, so some come from the cultural service, others from the city and forest parks service, others from the highway service, “he said.
Anies hopes this monument’s new location makes it easier for anyone to see part of the Republic of Indonesia’s travel story while enjoying the beauty of the third space in central Jakarta, which is Menteng Park.
“By standing in this place, people pass by, the children stop and let the families who bring their children read this story (which is written on the monument). They will be inspired to say that there was a time when young people you don’t choose to look, you don’t choose to be silent, but you choose to move and make changes (in 1966) “, he concluded.
