Tuen Mun twin corpse case, man and woman arrested on charges of obstructing burial of corpses were brought to court and remanded on March 19 for bail review

[on.cc East Network News]A horrifying case of infant corpses soaked in glass bottles was revealed in a tenement house in San Hui, Tuen Mun last Friday (8th). When a cleaner was cleaning the tenement unit, they found two suspicious glass bottles containing unknown liquid in the living room of the house, with the body of a baby boy soaked in each. After receiving the report, law enforcement authorities launched an investigation and arrested two former tenants of the unit involved today, who may not be ruled out as the parents of the baby boy involved. Two people were charged with two counts of preventing the burial of a corpse. The case was brought up at the Fanling Magistrates’ Courts this morning (11th). The two people do not need to plead for the time being. The magistrate adjourned the case to June 3 at the request of the prosecution to wait for DNA comparison and related medical reports to confirm the cause of the baby boy’s death. The two defendants must be remanded in custody and will be held in custody. Bail review will be held on March 19.

The two defendants are Lin Zihan (24 years old, reported as a warehouse worker) and Zhou Yinghua (female, 22 years old, reported as a public relations officer). They were charged with two counts of preventing the burial of a corpse. The charge alleges that two people prevented the burial of a baby boy’s body in a tin house in Ha Tsuen, Tin Ha Road, Tin Shui Wai on a certain day in 2022; The unit prevented the burial of the body of a baby boy.

The male defendant, who is thin and has curly hair, was wearing a white long-sleeved top and the female defendant, who is slender and has a ponytail, was wearing a black trench coat. Both of them behaved calmly and stated that they understood the charges. The female defendant kept looking towards the public gallery when the court ended and entered the detention room. According to the defense, the two defendants did not apply for bail today, but bail review was reserved for 8 days, so the magistrate adjourned the case to March 19 for further hearing. It is reported that the two defendants have made confessions. According to the confession, the two charges occurred at different times and locations, so they were eventually divided into two charges.

Because the Tuen Mun tenement unit involved in the case had been in arrears with rent, the owner had earlier ordered the two defendants who were tenants to move out. It was not until last Friday when cleaning workers were cleaning the unit that they found two suspicious glass bottles involved in the case, with the baby boy’s body soaked in them respectively, and immediately reported the matter to the police. According to preliminary autopsies by forensic doctors, it was determined that the two infant corpses were approximately 24 to 30 weeks old. Investigation showed that there were no hospital birth records for the two male infants. After investigation, the two defendants were arrested by law enforcement officers on the same day and were later charged.
