KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Tuberculosis is one of the potentially serious infectious diseases. This disease can occur in various organs of the body, but often attacks the lungs.
The bacteria that cause tuberculosis are passed from person to person through tiny airborne droplets released through coughing and sneezing.
Lung Specialist at Siloam Hospitals Makassar, dr. Adrianne Marissa Tauran, Sp.P., said that TB cases were quite curable even though Indonesia was ranked 3rd in the world in TB cases.
The treatment is sufficient within 6 months under normal conditions, which is divided into 2 stages, namely the initial phase, where the treatment is for 2 months by taking medication every day. As for the advanced phase, the treatment is for 4 months by taking medication one day at a time.

To prevent TB transmission, we must implement clean and healthy living behavior that starts with ourselves. Then consume nutritious food because if the immune system is lacking, it will be more easily exposed to TB compared to people with good immune systems.
Then use a mask or cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing so you can avoid transmission and don’t spit anywhere.
“But it should also be noted that not all TB sufferers must have symptoms of cough, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, must lose weight, must experience weakness. With one of the symptoms mentioned above, it is necessary to suspect TB. maybe the economic condition is better than in the past, patients with no symptoms are often found, only because they are doing the MCU and with the results of the chest x-ray it turns out that the patient has TB,” said the doctor who is familiarly called Doctor Anke in his statement, Friday (25/3) .
