According to Lung Specialist Siloam Hospitals Makassar Adrianne Marissa Tauran, TB cases are bigger than Covid-19 cases. Another difference is that Covid-19 is a disease caused by a virus, while TB is caused by bacteria.

“Viruses are natural to heal on their own as long as the body’s immune system is good, then diseases caused by viruses will heal on their own, unlike TB caused by bacteria, so they must be treated. And TB cannot be cured with herbal medicine,” said Anke, his nickname.

TB treatment was carried out for six months under normal conditions. There are two stages of treatment, namely the initial phase by taking medication every day for two months, and the continuation phase which takes medication one day at a time for four months.

For pure TB patients, there are no dietary restrictions. Improve nutrition, especially calories and protein. However, if this TB patient suffers from diabetes, collaboration with a nutritionist and internal medicine doctor must be carried out.

TB patients also have to undergo blood sugar and HIV tests. The goal, as a screening whether the patient suffers from diabetes or HIV.
