Basketball club “TTT Rīga” has signed an agreement with Raina Tomašickas. The agreement is concluded for three seasons, with the possibility for the club to review it after each season, reports the Riga unit.
“The vision of the club coincides with my vision – we bring together the best young players in Latvia as part of TTT. In the new season, our ranks will include girls from the U16, U18 and U20 national teams. Raina is a talented player who is currently working individually in open practice, ”says Mārtiņš Gulbis, the head coach of TTT Rīga,
Raina Tomašicka made her debut in TTT on January 25, 2021, in the European Women’s Basketball League (EWBL) home game against the Russian Premier League club “Nika Syktyvkar”. Later, the girl was also entered in the Latvian Women’s Basketball League. Tomašicka played with the 35th number. Offensive defense participated in 12 LSBL games, averaging 5.3 points per 14:31 minutes. Tomašicka scored 2.1 rebounds, made 1.2 assists and provoked 1.2 notes. The girl took 52.7% of two-point and 16.7% of three-point throws, as well as 72.2% of free throws.
Tomašicka scored 64 points, 25 rebounds and 14 assists in the national championship games. In the European Women’s Basketball League, she scored 3.4 points and 0.8 rebounds in an average of 09:12 minutes in five games. Totals – 17 points and four rebounds. After moving from Jēkabpils to Riga, the player worked under the guidance of coach Ainārs Čukste, as well as in October 2020 he represented the juniors of BJBS “Rīga” in three games. Last season, in 13 games in the Latvian and Estonian leagues, he scored an average of 10.1 points in 19:41 minutes, won 3.0 balls under the baskets and made 1.5 assists.
Tomašicka has represented the Latvian U14 and U16 teams in 15 games, averaging 15.0 points. In the debut game on June 14, 2019 against the Estonian U14 national team scored 20 points. Due to injury, he was unable to play in the FIBA Challenger tournament in Helsinki this summer. The girl successfully participated in “Jr. NBA ”and won the right to participate in the final tournament, which took place in August 2018 in Orlando, USA. The European U14 national team represented by Tomašicka reached the final of the tournament, in which he lost to the US “Central” team. “Jr. The NBA tournament featured 16 girls’ teams – eight from the United States and eight from around the world. Tomašicka, together with Jaelynn Murray and Laila McLeod, won first place in the Gatorade U14 skills competition on August 9, 2018.
