TTI Algeciras increases the number of reefer outlets at its terminal

The semi-automated container terminal in Algeciras, located in the docks of Isla Verde Exterior, is becoming a benchmark in the supply chain of perishable products at controlled temperatures, thanks to unbeatable transit times and connectivity with more than 125 ports, most of them in South America and Africa.

Refrigerated container traffic through TTI Algeciras has been experiencing a sustained double-digit increase since 2016. Between January and July 2020, this type of cargo increased by almost 18 percent compared to the same period in 2019, especially in the local scope. Currently, almost 70 percent of the import / export reefers handled by the Bahía de Algeciras Port move through TTI-A.

In order to continue favoring this growing traffic, the terminal has just installed 120 new sockets for refrigerated containers, which are already operational. This is the second time that the terminal expands its facilities dedicated to cold. In May 2018, TTI Algeciras invested in 64 new plugs.

As a result, the total number of outlets dedicated to reefer containers has reached the 1,144 units, which represents 20% more than in 2010 when the terminal started operations. With this improvement, TTI Algeciras will continue to offer a value-added service to customers and will guarantee a sufficient power supply capacity to absorb the volume of the new reefer campaign that will start again in September.
