• In March 2024, Tszyu lost his WBO super welterweight championship to Sebastian Fundora by split decision. The fight was significantly impacted after Tszyu suffered a nasty cut in the early rounds.
• Challenging Bakhram Murtazaliev for the IBF championship in October,Tszyu fell short again.Murtazaliev produced a demolition job,scoring four knockdowns for a third-round TKO in Orlando.

Spencer’s Perspective

Prior to this fight, spencer’s record stood at 19-1, with 11 knockouts. His sole defeat occurred on the David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant undercard in March 2023, where Jesus Ramos Jr. stopped him in round 7.

Since that loss, Spencer had accumulated three wins, albeit against lesser-known opponents, over the preceding 18 months.

Looking Ahead: Potential Thurman Bout

With the victory over Spencer, Tszyu’s promoters, No Limit Boxing, have tentatively marked July 6 on the Gold Coast for a potential matchup with Keith Thurman.

Thurman, a former unified welterweight champion, made his Australian debut in March, securing a third-round knockout against Brock Jarvis. This fight marked Thurman’s return after a three-year hiatus.
