/ world today news/ The 43rd National Assembly will not be able to appoint a cabinet and early elections will be held, said the Chairman of the General Assembly of GERB Tsvetan Tsvetanov in the National Assembly.
Within 4-5 days, we held intensive talks to find the points of intersection for forming a cabinet within this parliament, explained Tsvetanov. But certain differences have emerged because of which we cannot do this and because of which we are unable to reach an agreement, he stressed.
For us, power has never been an end in itself, from any of the political parties that participated in the talks, and we have always relied on agreement in principle so that we can unite and move towards the remainder of the mandate of the 43 National Assembly, continued Tsvetanov, who together with colleagues from GERB and with MPs from RB and PF they negotiated for almost two hours in the parliament. There are certain differences between us and taking into account the public attitudes towards early parliamentary elections, we can say that we cannot reach an agreement in principle on sectoral policies and continue to govern with this parliamentary majority, with those who supported Borisov’s government, he said he.
We worked quite hard and quite seriously, everyone had their own important topics on which they wanted us to achieve unity, the “golden ratio”, but obviously this did not work, Nayden Zelenogorski, co-chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, pointed out. Our topics were effective judicial reform, the anti-corruption law and the way we introduced it to achieve success in the fight against corruption, he explained. It is obvious to us that within this parliament we cannot effectively achieve our goals, but we have made every effort. We hope that in the future parliament there will be enough points of contact between GERB and RB, PF to continue with the reforms, Zelenogorski expressed hope.
Valeri Simeonov from the PF also expressed satisfaction with the dialogue that took place in recent days, maximum efforts and goodwill were made, but they cannot boast of a positive result. Our priorities were pensions, the fight against crime, the migrant flow, reforms in energy and the economy, but I am confident that these topics will be developed and implemented in the next National Assembly, said Simeonov. At least we proved that we are not cowards, that we are brave people who will not go against the attitudes of our own people. Unfortunately, recently the attitudes are already for elections, no problem, we will not go against these attitudes. I am convinced that in the future National Assembly, in the face of colleagues, we will have like-minded people and friends rather than enemies, Valery Simeonov concluded.
Tsvetanov stated that they agreed with their colleagues not to answer questions from the media, but only to make statements.
