TSV Hannover-Burgdorf has made it into the group stage of the European League. Coach Christian Prokop’s handball team won the qualifying second leg against Ystads IF HF 30:21 (11:10) on Saturday.
The Lower Saxony had already won the first leg in Sweden 33:28. The best throwers of the “Recken” in the second duel were Branko Vujovic and Jonathan Edvardsson with five goals each.
Hannover got off to a good start, leading 8:3 in the 16th minute. After that, however, the concentration faltered a bit. The Swedes reduced to one goal before the break. After the break, TSV pulled away from 13:12 (35th minute) to 21:14 (47th). The guests, who had reached the round of 16 in the second most important European cup last season, could no longer follow.
In the group phase, the Lower Saxony in Group B now meet Gornik Zabrze from Poland, AEK Athens from Greece and HC Kriens-Luzern from Switzerland. The Prokop team will play the first game on October 17 in Switzerland.
