TSV 1860 Munich: Interim season conclusion from boss Dr. Christian Werner | sport

Lots of room for improvement!

After nine games, TSV 1860 Munich is in ninth place in the 3rd league with twelve points and a goal difference of 12:15. The Lions are five points short of a direct promotion place – but they are also only three points ahead of a relegation place.

Time for a first interim conclusion of the season from sports boss Dr. Christian Werner (43).

Werner to BILD: “We can see from the team’s commitment and the development they have undergone in the current season that we have succeeded, despite a budget that was reduced by 15 to 20 percent compared to last season. to put together a powerful team. Despite all the initial difficulties, we are now in ninth place and the table is brutally close.”

Lack of consistency

The fact is: the Lions still lack consistency. There were two defeats against Dresden and Wiesbaden (2:3 each). At VfB Stuttgart II there was a 1:3 defeat. In the derby against Ingolstadt, at BVB II (2:1 each) and against Bielefeld (1:0), the Lions scored points against unpleasant opponents.

Werner continued: “There is great potential and quality in the team that we have not yet fully exploited. The development is clear to see. We’ll have a lot of fun with the boys.”

After a bumpy start to the season (four defeats from five games) and numerous reports that coach Agirios Giannikis (44) is about to retire, the team has stabilized in the last few weeks.

Another problem is the exploitation of opportunities. In addition, the attackers Patrick Hobsch (two goals), Fabian Schubert (both 29, one goal) and Maximilian Wolfram (27, two goals) have not really gotten going yet.

Werner: “The knot in the attack has nothing to do with the individual quality of the players. We are absolutely convinced of each and every one of them. It took development and it took a little longer. We are not yet at the point where we are satisfied and still have room for improvement. In the last few games we have already shown signs that confirm that we are on the right path, but we still have 20-25 percent in the tank that we can and must add to that.”

After the international break, three difficult opponents await the Lions: Unterhaching (October 20th, 18th place), Osnabrück (October 23rd, 20th place) and Cottbus (October 27th, fourth place).

For the maximum result of nine points, 25 percent more performance would be important.
