The best video on Vimeo is called “Snowciety”, deals with the snowboarding scene in St. Moritz and was shot by three Swiss people, Kris Lüdi (director), David Müller (producer) and Daryl Hefti (cameraman). The film was praised for the strong visual juxtaposition of the St. Moritz luxury world and the local snowboard scene. Vimeo honored the short documentary as “Staff Pick of the Month” back in June 2019. Here you can see it in full length:

Vimeo’s Best of the Year Awards

The award was launched in 2016 by the world’s leading platform for filmmakers to honor the best staff picks. They recognize outstanding achievements in the areas of storytelling, originality and craft. The Vimeo curator team has nominated 100 extraordinary videos for the “Best of the Year” award from over 1,000 “Staff Picks” selected this year. An external jury made up of renowned video artists and industry experts selected the winners for the “Best of the Year” award. The jury consisted of Oscar-nominated actor and producer Alec Baldwin, Emmy-nominated producer and production designer Lisa Hanawalt, Golden Globe-winning actor Oscar Isaac, AdAge Creativity editor Ann-Christine Diaz and the actor, director and producer Danny DeVito.

Snowciety is a short documentary film. From the perspective of a group of young, local snowboarders, we experience a culture with an alternative approach to life that breaks with the common stereotypes of “jet set and wealth” in St. Moritz, wrote the three filmmakers in a press release on Monday. “The protagonists of the group grew up together in the Engadine” and would still live there today.

The project, financed by Hillton, was created in the former surroundings of the freelance producer David Müller, who lived in St. Moritz for ten years and who, thanks to the enthusiasm of Swiss director Kris Lüdi, stands for the uniqueness of the Engadine. The scenes in St.Moritz consist of acquaintances in both worlds depicted – the cliché and the subculture.
