A tsunami warning has been issued on the coast of Japan due to an earthquake that occurred in the Pacific Ocean, but the exact cause has not been analyzed.

On the morning of the 9th, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning for the Pacific coast, including the Izu Islands in the Honshu region.

At around 5:25 a.m., an earthquake occurred off the coast of Torishima, south of the Izu Islands, and it was a warning that a tsunami up to 1 meter high would hit the coasts of the Izu Islands, Ogasawara Islands, and Chiba Prefecture.

However, the actual tsunami height was only 10 to 60 cm, and no property damage or casualties occurred.

All tsunami warnings were lifted as of 12 noon (noon).

On the 5th, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake occurred in the ocean in a similar location and a tsunami warning was issued for the Izu Islands area, but the exact cause of this tsunami warning was not announced.

The Korea Meteorological Administration, which announced that there was a shallow earthquake, issued an official statement saying, “The cause is not yet known whether it was due to a volcanic eruption or changes in the crust of the ocean floor.”

Although the magnitude of the earthquake is unknown, a tsunami was actually observed and a tsunami warning was issued, but it passed without any significant damage, which is a somewhat unusual phenomenon.

In Japan, which suffered astronomical damage from a large tsunami during the Great East Japan Earthquake 10 years ago, anxiety is growing that a tsunami like this one, the cause of which is not clear, will be repeated.
