An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 on the Richter scale occurred off the coast of the US state of Alaska on Monday afternoon (local time). The American geophysical institute USGS reports this. Authorities announced a tsunami alarm.

The quake took place 58 miles southeast of Sand Point, at a depth of 25 miles.
There are no reports yet about possible damage to houses, the harbor or ships. Alaska is a very sparsely populated state.
