TSMC to Manufacture 90% of Apple’s 3nm Chips for iPhone, MacBook, and iPad

Semiconductor manufacturing company TSMC will manufacture 90 percent of Apple’s 3 nanometer (nm) chips by 2023.

Later, Apple will use the 3 nm chipset for Apple’s flagship products, namely the new iPhone, MacBook and iPad.

Apple itself has ordered the production of 3 nm chips made by TSMC since 2020. Apple sees TSMC as having bright prospects in the future and is part of Apple’s long-term strategy.

Of course, Apple will install the 3nm A17 Bionic chip made by TSMC for its newest flagship products, namely the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max which will be launched in the middle of this year.

For information, the 3nm A17 Bionic chipset will increase power efficiency by 35 percent and increase performance by 15 percent. Far more powerful than the 4nm A16 Bionic chipset used by the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Not only the iPhone 15 Pro series, Apple will also embed the 3nm chipset made by TSMC into the 13-inch MacBook Air, as quoted by GSM Arena.

Other chip companies such as Qualcomm, Samsung, and MediaTek must compete for TSMC production, which means that there is only 10 percent left.

The solution, TSMC must increase its production capacity so that it can meet production for other companies with a larger number.
