Taiwanese company Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), which is currently the world’s premier semiconductor factory, announced that the company plans to build three factories that will create cutting-edge 2nm chips.
Mark LiuChairman of the Board of Directors of TSMC, shared with journalists about the company’s plans for the future: the first factory will be located near the city of Hsinchu, its opening is planned in 2025. The second factory will be located in Kaohsiung, and if everything goes according to plan, it will open in 2026.
The company also plans to open a third factory in the city of Taichung; TSMC is currently discussing this project with the country’s authorities. If everything goes according to plan, TSMC will be able to mass produce 2nm chips in the second half of 2025.
