Tsipras Slams Apostolakis Over Parliament Seat, SYRIZA Calls it “Shameful

Koumoundourou launched a fierce attack against State MP Evangelos Apostolakis, after the declaration of withdrawal from SYRIZA-PS and the decision to make him independent without handing over his parliamentary seat. SYRIZA-PS characterizes the decision of Evangelos Apostolakis as pre-written and identifies his attitude as a “shameful apostasy”.

SYRIZA-PS points out that by leaving without handing over the seat, he insults the party that honored him by placing him on the State Ballot, the voters of SYRIZA-PS and the choice of SYRIZA-PS members, as expressed recently in the presidential elections.

It is noteworthy that according to information from the staff of Alexis Tsipras, the former prime minister and former president of SYRIZA had a telephone conversation with Evangelos Apostolakis on the initiative of the deputy in the previous days. Alexis Tsipras, as his interlocutors point out, conveyed his position to him in an absolute manner that “especially an appointed member of parliament when he disagrees with the party that elected him resigns, leaving the seat that neither politically nor morally belongs to him. He obviously listened to other people’s advice!

It was to be expected that Koumoundourou would launch heavy fire against Evangelos Apostolakis, in the event that he left and kept his seat, as he was not elected with a cross in 2023 but was placed on the State ballot by the decision of the then president of the party, Alexis Tsipras.

Thus, Koumoundourou calls on the SYRIZA State Member of Parliament – PS Evangelos Apostolakis, retired admiral, honorary Chief of GEETHA to hand over the seat even at the last moment and adds that otherwise from now on he will bear “the mark of apostasy, trespass and offending the popular verdict and will, as well as serving the aims of the government Mitsotakis and the entanglement, who are particularly worried by the restart and strengthening of SYRIZA-PS”.

Shortly after the declaration of independence by Evangelos Apostolakis, on the evening of November 28, SYRIZA-PS issued the following statement:

“The prescribed decision of Evangelos Apostolakis ends today with his shameful apostasy. He didn’t think about the Party that honored him by placing him on the State Ballot, nor the voters of SYRIZA-PS.

And he insults the choice of SYRIZA-PS members, as he recently expressed in the presidential elections.

From now on, it will bear the mark of apostasy, trampling and insulting the popular verdict and will, as well as serving the Mitsotakis government’s aims and the entanglement, which are particularly worrying from the relaunch and strengthening of SYRIZA-PS.

He must, even at the last moment, hand over the seat that does not belong to him, especially since SYRIZA-PS placed him on the State Ballot. Otherwise, the Greek people will send him to the basket of political history. And no one is going to save him there.”

## “Apostasy or Principle?” Political Analyst Weighs In‍ on Apostolakis’ Departure from SYRIZA

**world-today-News Exclusive**

The political landscape in Greece is reeling⁣ after State MP Evangelos Apostolakis’s dramatic⁤ exit from the SYRIZA-PS party. Accusations fly as Apostolakis ‍chooses to ⁤remain in Parliament as an‌ independent, a move roundly condemned by SYRIZA-PS⁢ as a “shameful apostasy.”

To unpack this unfolding drama and its ‌potential ⁣implications,⁤ we ⁤spoke to Dr. Elena Papadopoulos, a leading political analyst ‍and expert on Greek politics.

**World-Today-News:**‌ Dr. Papadopoulos, what are your⁢ initial thoughts on Apostolakis’s decision? Was this move predictable?

**Dr. Papadopoulos:**⁣ Apostolakis’s departure from SYRIZA-PS certainly caught many by surprise, but ⁤looking back, certain signs may have foreshadowed ⁢this move. His public dissent on certain party policies, notably regarding the⁤ recent presidential elections, hinted at growing⁤ discontent.

However, choosing to remain in⁢ Parliament‌ as an independent, rather than resigning his seat, is a bold and ⁤controversial choice. This suggests ⁤that Apostolakis might potentially ‌be pursuing his own political⁤ agenda, possibly aligning ⁢with a⁣ different faction or even‍ launching⁢ his own⁤ political ‌platform.

**World-Today-News:** SYRIZA-PS has been particularly harsh in its condemnation‌ of⁤ Apostolakis, accusing him of insulting the ⁤party and the voters who elected him.⁣ How do you view thes accusations?

**Dr.⁢ Papadopoulos:** SYRIZA-PSS reaction is understandable.Losing a member of Parliament, ⁣especially one who enjoys ⁤a degree of public support, is a blow⁣ to any party.

Their accusations of “apostasy” aim to portray Apostolakis as betraying the party and its principles. This‍ creates a narrative that positions SYRIZA-PS‍ as the righteous‌ victim,⁤ which can potentially galvanize⁤ their base and deflect from any internal divisions within the party.

However, one must consider Apostolakis’s perspective as well. Did he ⁤feel‍ genuinely unable to continue representing SYRIZA-PS’s evolving ideological stance? Did he believe his independent⁣ voice could ‌be more effective in representing the interests of his constituents?

**World-Today-News:** What are the⁢ potential consequences of this departure⁢ for SYRIZA-PS and the broader greek political⁤ landscape?

**Dr. Papadopoulos:** ⁤This⁣ advancement undoubtedly weakens SYRIZA-PS, particularly in⁢ the immediate future. It calls⁢ into question

the⁣ party’s unity and ability to effectively challenge the governing New Democracy party. ⁣ Apostolakis’‍ potential independent stance could also attract disillusioned⁣ SYRIZA-PS voters, further fragmenting the left-wing vote.

The longer-term consequences remain ‍to be seen. Will this spark further defections from SYRIZA-PS? Will ⁣Apostolakis successfully build an‍ independent political force? ‍Only time will tell. This situation underscores the fluidity of the Greek political landscape and the potential for unexpected realignments.

**World-Today-News:** Thank you,Dr. Papadopoulos,⁤ for⁢ your ‌insightful analysis.
