Koumoundourou launched a fierce attack against State MP Evangelos Apostolakis, after the declaration of withdrawal from SYRIZA-PS and the decision to make him independent without handing over his parliamentary seat. SYRIZA-PS characterizes the decision of Evangelos Apostolakis as pre-written and identifies his attitude as a “shameful apostasy”.
SYRIZA-PS points out that by leaving without handing over the seat, he insults the party that honored him by placing him on the State Ballot, the voters of SYRIZA-PS and the choice of SYRIZA-PS members, as expressed recently in the presidential elections.
It is noteworthy that according to information from the staff of Alexis Tsipras, the former prime minister and former president of SYRIZA had a telephone conversation with Evangelos Apostolakis on the initiative of the deputy in the previous days. Alexis Tsipras, as his interlocutors point out, conveyed his position to him in an absolute manner that “especially an appointed member of parliament when he disagrees with the party that elected him resigns, leaving the seat that neither politically nor morally belongs to him. He obviously listened to other people’s advice!
It was to be expected that Koumoundourou would launch heavy fire against Evangelos Apostolakis, in the event that he left and kept his seat, as he was not elected with a cross in 2023 but was placed on the State ballot by the decision of the then president of the party, Alexis Tsipras.
Thus, Koumoundourou calls on the SYRIZA State Member of Parliament – PS Evangelos Apostolakis, retired admiral, honorary Chief of GEETHA to hand over the seat even at the last moment and adds that otherwise from now on he will bear “the mark of apostasy, trespass and offending the popular verdict and will, as well as serving the aims of the government Mitsotakis and the entanglement, who are particularly worried by the restart and strengthening of SYRIZA-PS”.
Shortly after the declaration of independence by Evangelos Apostolakis, on the evening of November 28, SYRIZA-PS issued the following statement:
“The prescribed decision of Evangelos Apostolakis ends today with his shameful apostasy. He didn’t think about the Party that honored him by placing him on the State Ballot, nor the voters of SYRIZA-PS.
And he insults the choice of SYRIZA-PS members, as he recently expressed in the presidential elections.
From now on, it will bear the mark of apostasy, trampling and insulting the popular verdict and will, as well as serving the Mitsotakis government’s aims and the entanglement, which are particularly worrying from the relaunch and strengthening of SYRIZA-PS.
He must, even at the last moment, hand over the seat that does not belong to him, especially since SYRIZA-PS placed him on the State Ballot. Otherwise, the Greek people will send him to the basket of political history. And no one is going to save him there.”

## Interview: The Apostolate of evangelos Apostolakis: An Analysis
Good afternoon, Dr. Papandrou, thank you for joining us today. As you know, we’re grappling with the recent departure of State MP Evangelos Apostolakis from SYRIZA-PS amidst heavy criticism from the party. Can you help our readers understand the meaning of this event and what it might indicate for Greek politics?**
**Dr. Papandrou:**
Good afternoon. This situation is indeed significant, and its ramifications could be multifaceted. Apostolakis’s decision to leave SYRIZA-PS, especially without relinquishing his parliamentary seat, is being viewed as a direct challenge to the party leadership and a breach of trust by many within SYRIZA-PS.
SYRIZA-PS is calling Apostolakis’s move “shameful apostasy.” They argue he’s betraying the party that placed him on the state ballot and the voters who supported him. How likely is it that this will damage SYRIZA-PS in the long run, particularly considering their recent strong showing in the presidential elections?**
**Dr. Papandrou:**
It’s a complex issue. On the one hand, Apostolakis’s departure could indeed erode trust in SYRIZA-PS, particularly among those who feel betrayed by his decision. The timing is also critical, coming so soon after the presidential elections. However, SYRIZA-PS enjoyed a significant victory in those elections, demonstrating continued public support.
The impact on SYRIZA-PS will depend on several factors, including how effectively they manage this crisis, whether they can mobilize their base around a clear alternative vision, and how voters interpret Apostolakis’s motivations and future actions.
We know there was a phone call between Alexis Tsipras and Apostolakis before his proclamation. Could this imply an attempt at reconciliation, or are these two men politically incompatible at this point?**
**Dr. Papandrou:**
That phone call adds another layer of intrigue. It could suggest that Tsipras attempted to bridge the divide, perhaps by addressing Apostolakis’s concerns or finding a compromise. Though, the fact that Apostolakis ultimately chose to leave indicates that the differences were likely irreconcilable.
It’s to early to definitively say if their relationship is beyond repair, but the indicators suggest a significant rift.
What are the potential political consequences for Evangelos Apostolakis himself? He’s positioned himself as an autonomous, but how viable is that path in the current greek political landscape?**
**Dr. Papandrou:**
Apostolakis’s move is a gamble. As an independent, he will have to build his own political platform and gain public support without the backing of an established party.
this is a challenging feat in Greek politics, where party loyalty traditionally runs deep. His success will depend on his ability to articulate a clear vision, attract supporters, and navigate the complex political arena as an outsider.
Dr. Papandrou, thank you for your invaluable insights. This is clearly a story we’ll be following closely in the coming weeks and months.
**Dr. Papandrou:**
My pleasure. I believe the fallout from this event will have lasting implications for Greek politics, so staying informed is crucial.
