The judge of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), Noel Orellana, revealed that they plan to now define the winners of the mayoralties of the 44 new municipalities of the Salvadoran territory.
“In the case of municipal councils it will be easier, more practical, because the way in which each of the minutes is recorded is more practical. We would hope to conclude tomorrow [hoy] to inform the population about the composition of the officials who were elected in the March 3 elections,” said Orellana.
The electoral magistrate made this estimate after confirming that yesterday the processing of the 8,562 minutes of the election of deputies of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) had been completed.
Until the close of the preliminary scrutiny of the municipal council election, Dora Esmeralda Martínez, president of the TSE, reported that projections indicate that the Nuevas Ideas party would obtain 24 mayoralties; the PDC, four; PCN, three; the PCN-PDC coalition, one; ARENA, one, and Fuerza Solidaria, one; Likewise, she stressed that they were pending to define – due to a minimal difference in votes between one party and another – San Vicente Norte, Chalatenango Centro, La Libertad Norte and Ahuachapán Norte.
Julio Olivo, TSE magistrate, also reported yesterday that the counting of municipal council votes could have been completed partially last night and in its entirety today.
“We needed to move forward first with the Central American Parliament and then come out with municipal councils, which, according to good calculations, we could now be leaving, except in those cases where there are some complications, where the difference [de votos] is quite minimal and could complicate the count or the review,” said Olivo.
“The scrutiny has flowed so easily to the point that yesterday [miércoles]At night, we had already finished the Central American Parliament in all the tables that have been installed,” he added.
