The Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) confirmed this Thursday the suspension of the Semilla Movement legal status. This is because on October 31, the electoral process period concluded.
After declaring the completion of the electoral process, the TSE Citizen Registry processed the order of the Seventh Criminal Instance Judge, Fredy Orellana, therefore suspending the legal status of the Movimiento Semilla party.

Luis Gerardo Ramírez, spokesperson for the TSE, confirmed the suspension of the legal status of the Movimiento Semilla party. This is from the Citizens Registry, so the political group will be notified soon. With them the order is fulfilled. It was carried out every time the electoral process ended on October 31.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office against Impunity (FECI), headed by Rafael Curruchiche, requested on July 12 that, at their request, the Seventh Court ordered the suspension of the legal personality of the Semilla Movement. Its candidate, Bernardo Arévalo, won the presidency of Guatemala.
The Registry of Citizens complied with the order, but upon appeal, the TSE magistrates revoked said measure. This is because a political organization cannot be suspended or canceled during an electoral process. However, in its resolution it established that it could be suspended when the electoral process was completed.
Semilla says that they have not yet been notified of the suspension by the TSE
Samuel Pérez, deputy of the Semilla Movement, reported that they have not yet been notified by the Citizens Registry.
The case against the Semilla Movement party arises from an investigation by the FECI. In it they point out that there are around 5 thousand false signatures. People who died as members among other irregularities that occurred in the formation of the political organization.
From now on, and when Congress is notified, the Semilla bench will lose that quality, so they will no longer be able to participate in the instance of heads of block, offices, personnel, revolving fund, they will not be able to chair legislative commissions or join the Board of Directors. .
