The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced that the Trypil Thermal Power Plant was destroyed by 4 Russian missiles, and 7 more were shot down.
The head of state said this in an interview for PBS NewsHour. As the president explained, it was not possible to protect the Trypil TPP from Russian missiles because the Ukrainian air defense system ran out of warheads used to protect the facility.
“11 missiles flew. We destroyed the first 7. Four destroyed Trypilly. Why? Because we had zero missiles. We ran out of all the missiles that protected Trypilly,” Zelenskyi said.
At the same time, the head of state recalled the recent attack by Iran on Israel and the reaction of the world community.
“When the allies say that they cannot give us this or that weapon, or cannot be in Ukraine with these or that forces, because then it will be perceived that Ukraine dragged NATO into the war, I want to ask you a question: Israel in NATO or no? That’s the answer. Israel is not a country, but the allies, including the countries of Israel, have shown that Israel was not alone. And this is the answer to everyone who says, that Ukraine should be helped very carefully so as not to involve NATO countries in the war,” Zelensky emphasized.

The Trypil TPP was completely destroyed
As a result of a massive missile attack on the night of Thursday, April 11, Russian troops completely destroyed the Trypil TPP in the Kyiv region. It was the most powerful power plant in the region, and fed Zhytomyr and Cherkasy regions.
The director of the “Psyche” center Gennadiy Ryabtsev and the director of the Energy Research Center Oleksandr Kharchenko expressed their opinion on how Ukraine will feel this critical blow to the energy sector. Kharchenko assumes that we will see the first negative consequences in the summer. Currently, the situation is difficult for the residents of the city of Ukrainka, because heating and hot water there depended entirely on the capacities of the TPP. The city does not have its own boiler house to keep warm in winter.
