Trygve Slagsvold Vedum, Political district

When Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum (Sp) appeared on NRK’s Political Quarterly on Wednesday morning, he was asked several times which other government members he consulted with before Jens Stoltenberg was appointed central bank governor.

– So it is in all things that are internal to a government, that you do not have your own list of who you have … how you have treated the …

– But you can answer who you consulted, can’t you?

– What is important here, also vis-à-vis the Parliament, is that those who have the role follow their constitutional responsibility, and it was my constitutional responsibility to put this forward. On Tuesday evening it also became clear that the Parliament’s Control and Constitution Committee has put 21 questions to the government about the appointment of Jens Stoltenberg as the new head of Norges Bank.

– To answer the questions will be a very fine and important task, because this has gone according to the rules we have, says Vedum.

The Control and Constitution Committee has also asked for insight into the communications inside the ministry and the government.

– There we will follow the usual procedures on what to give access to, says Vedum.
