Samsung is trying all kinds of ways to get iPhone users to consider switching to its own Galaxy smartphones. It does so not only with an extensive marketing campaign, but also with active steps. One of them is the Try Galaxy web application, which allows you to try the One UI mobile environment on practically any iPhone. And if you have two iPhones nearby, you can test the latest version of One UI 5.1.1 for flexible smartphones on them.
Two iPhones + Try Galaxy app = Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5
To try out the mobile experience for flexible smartphones, you need to have access to two iPhones with approximately the same screen size, you do not need to log in to one Apple ID. You can get One UI on their displays either by visiting the website trygalaxy.com, or by scanning the QR code found on this page. Then all you have to do is choose the correct orientation (which iPhone is left and which right), and you can start testing. Editor Wes Davis from The Verge still recommends physically connecting both iPhones with adhesive tape.
A demo of Try Galaxy’s capabilities
You can go crazy on iPhone displays – you can play with the placement of icons and widgets on the home screen, run a different application on each of the displays or, conversely, run one application on both displays. In its demo, Samsung mainly highlights the improvements of the latest version 5.1.1, such as the FlexCam camera mode or improved multitasking. The application will also provide iPhone users with information about the Samsung ecosystem – how content is shared, paired with peripherals, health monitoring through the Samsung Health application, etc.
Unfortunately, the environment for flexible smartphones can only be tested on iPhones, smartphones with Android are not supported. It is at least pleasing that the latest version of the Try Galaxy web application has already been translated into Czech.
