Trump’s attacks against immigrants do not boost support for Democrats, according to poll. –

The Republican candidate for the US Presidency offered an interview to The New York Post after the attack on Saturday, July 13.

The constant attacks by former president and Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, against immigrants have not tipped the balance of Hispanic voters towards the Democratic side, according to the results of a survey published today by the New York Times.

The survey, carried out with the Marist College in New York, and which shows how support in this community for Republicans has gradually increased, concluded that these insults had not led Latinos to support Democrat Kamala Harris, points out the diary.

67% of those interviewed believe that Trump was not referring to people like them when he talked about immigrants while half of those born abroad said the same.

The Times said the survey of 902 likely Hispanic voters, conducted from September 29 to October 6, shows surprising signs of support for Trump’s more aggressive immigration policies: More than a third of those surveyed said they support construction as much as of a wall along the US-Mexico border and the deportation of undocumented immigrants.

He highlights that a large majority of that support comes from Trump voters, but 9% of those who support Harris also say the same. Support for those policies came largely from U.S.-born Latinos.

The results also indicate that about four in 10 Latino voters said they did not take the former president very seriously when he spoke, and half of men said people take his words too seriously.

The results further suggest that Trump is winning over a small but significant portion of the voters who chose President Joe Biden in 2020: 9 percent said they would vote for Trump this year. Hispanics who did not vote in 2020 were more likely than others to say they would vote for the Republican candidate.

The Times highlights that since the elections that brought Barack Obama to power with 70% Latino support, Trump has been eroding that support for the Democrats.

According to the survey, in these November elections, Latino support for the Democratic candidate would be 56% and for Trump 37%. 62% of the Democratic female vote would go to Harris.EFE
