The famous trumpeter Alison Balsom has just participated in a study conducted by the University of Bristol on the transmission of Covid-19 by wind instruments, as reported by our British colleagues from Classic FM. The results, which confirm several studies on the subject, are reassuring for orchestral musicians.
Covid 19: speaking loudly is riskier than playing a wind instrument!
Researchers at the University of Bristol have found that the aerosols produced by wind instruments are not as large as those generated by a person speaking or singing. The study, in which 9 musicians participated, including British trumpeter Alison Balsom, took place in a space without any aerosol particles that could interfere with the measurements. The great performer of Haydn and Hummel’s trumpet concertos performed ” Happy Birthday “, allowing scientists to confirm several studies on the subject.
