Former US President Donald Trump will announce his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election on Tuesday, Jason Miller, who was a longtime Trump adviser, said on Friday.
Trump has previously hinted that he may run for president again and promised to make a “very important announcement” on Tuesday.
“President Trump will announce Tuesday that he will run for president,” Miller told former Trump adviser Steve Bannon on the War Room podcast.
“It’s going to be a very professional, very measured statement,” he added.
As Miller put it, Trump told him, “there can be no question about that. Sure, I’ll run.”
One of the reasons Trump decided to announce his presidential bid relatively early may be his efforts to get ahead of potential rival Florida governor Ron DeSantis in the race for the Republican nomination for the White House.
Desantis’ win for Florida governor was one of the biggest wins for Republicans in Tuesday’s midterm elections.
