According to CNN, it sang around Biden’s campaign for some time that it would be a victory speech. The ‘most important speech of his career’. But later this was again questioned. No extra results were added, expectations became less and less high.
A group of reporters at Biden’s headquarters are reporting that the stage has been set and employees are walking around furiously, but still no start time has been spent on the speech.
Biden speaks in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. The large stage for his campaign headquarters has been prepared, with dozens of supporters and attendees.
Victory?
Donald Trump claimed victory the night after the election. Biden left it to his team to do that and said he wanted to wait for the votes to be counted. However, it runs out considerably and seems to be barely able to lose.
Current president and opponent Donald Trump has already warned Biden in a distinctive way; a victory speech will not be tolerated and lawyers are eager.
Pennsylvania of Georgia
There are a number of scenarios for Biden to claim the winnings. For example, Georgia is still completely open. The difference is 0.1%, although ‘blue’ has slightly run out. Trump had already announced that he would request a recount. Friday afternoon the secretary of state Georgia, Brad Raffensperger, announced that there will be a recount anyway because the difference is too small.
All eyes are therefore on Pennsylvania. That state would be enough for Biden to be declared the winner by the American media. Nevada and Arizona would also give enough electoral votes, but when a breakthrough can be expected there is unknown. Moreover, this year, with numerous lawsuits and recounts ahead, nothing is certain until all votes have been counted and validated.
Harris
Running mate Kamala Harris will also speak tonight, ahead of Biden. She would become America’s first female and first black vice president if the Democrats did indeed take victory. The speech is expected around 2 a.m. Dutch time.
On Wednesday, Biden already indicated in a speech that he is convinced that he will win the elections.
