New York, Mar 6 (EFE) .- The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, plans to return to New York this Sunday for the first time since he left the White House, local media announced this Saturday.
According to the Daily News, Trump will remain until Tuesday in the Big Apple, his city of birth and where he still has most of his business.
The WABC chain confirmed that the New York Police Department (NYPD) will impose additional security measures around Trump Tower, the Manhattan building owned by the tycoon and in which he continues to have a residence.
During his presidency, Trump officially moved his residence to Florida and, since leaving the White House, he has lived in that state, specifically in Mar-a-Lago, his Palm Beach club.
The Republican returns to the Big Apple at a time when several New York prosecutors are investigating his businesses for possible fraud crimes.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance gained access to eight years of tax returns and other documents from the former president’s tax history in late February after the Supreme Court rejected his attempts to keep them secret.
Prosecutor Vance’s is probably the most extensive investigation and the biggest legal concern for Trump, who has other cases open, such as a civil investigation by New York State Attorney General Letitia James into the possibility that the Organization Trump inflated the value of properties that he later devalued when it benefited him fiscally.
Trump has assured that these investigations in New York, a state dominated politically by the Democrats, are part of a “witch hunt” against him.
According to the Daily News, a priori the visit would not be linked to judicial issues. EFE
