Trump tells pro-life leader he has not committed to vote for radical abortion amendment

Contrary to liberal media reports, it appears that Donald Trump has not yet committed to supporting a radical amendment in Florida that would legalize abortions up to birth.

Trump said he opposes Florida’s current heartbeat law, which protects babies from abortion starting when their heartbeat can be detected at 6 weeks.

“I think six weeks is too short, there needs to be more time,” Trump told NBC News yesterday. “I told them I want more weeks.” “I’m going to vote because we need more than six weeks,” he said.

With that comment, Trump appeared to support Florida’s Amendment 4, which supports abortions up to birth, but his campaign later walked that back.

“President Trump has not yet said how he will vote on the Florida ballot initiative, simply reiterating that he believes six weeks is too short a time,” his campaign said.

Now, a pro-life leader tells LifeNews that Trump personally told him that he has not committed to voting for the amendment.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser told LifeNews: “I spoke with President Trump tonight. He has not committed to how he will vote on Amendment 4. President Trump has consistently opposed abortions after five months of pregnancy. Amendment 4 would allow abortion after this point. Voting for Amendment 4 completely undermines his position.”

She added: “We strongly support Florida’s current heartbeat law. For anyone who believes a different line should be drawn, you should still vote against Amendment 4, unless you truly want no limits at all.”

“Amendment 4 would lock unlimited abortion into the state constitution, preventing the Florida legislature from enacting any changes.”
