Still President Donald Trump spoke for the first time publicly after Joe Biden’s victory in the U.S. presidential election was declared. Speaking about advances in the vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, Trump has not failed to address the election, whose defeat he refuses to accept.
Addressing the economic impact of the pandemic and the recovery that the country is already experiencing, Trump said that “time will tell” who the next administration will be.
“Confinement costs, according to some estimates, $ 50 billion (€ 42.25 million) and thousands of jobs every day. Ideally, we will not go to confinement; me, this administration will not go to confinement. Whatever happens, whoever the next administration becomes – time will tell – one thing I guarantee: this administration will not order national confinement, ”said Donald Trump at the White House.
The statements were made on the day that various media and electoral research centers gave each candidate another victory at the state level. Georgia, the state where election officials have already assured that there will be a recount, will assign its 16 delegates at the Electoral College to Joe Biden. Trump is already conquering North Carolina and its 15 delegates, as in 2016.
Praising his vaccine development acceleration program, Trump reveals that “nobody believes” that inoculation against Covid-19 will arrive “five times faster” than any other vaccine in history. The president anticipates that, with the vaccine, “this phase of the pandemic will disappear”.
“In April, the vaccine will be widely available to the general population, at no cost,” announced the president, who further clarified that his home state of New York will not receive the vaccine, due to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s “politically motivated” refusal.
