Trump shocks doctors with “totally irresponsible” message …

The controversial tweet got him a lot of criticism. US media called it “scandalous” and “irresponsible” that Trump continued to minimize the coronavirus, as he has repeatedly done in recent months. Some doctors, including Eugene Gu, called the tweet “completely irresponsible”. Commentators are talking about the most dangerous tweet in his presidency.

Stitches off

The president went a step further. After stepping out of the hospital wearing a face mask and into his helicopter – indeed cheered by dozens of supporters further on – he walked up the steps of the White House. On the balcony, he took off his mask, put it in his jacket pocket, and had himself photographed up close by a White House photographer. He entered without a mask. Moments later, Trump tweeted two videos.

In the first, with triumphant music, images of his return. The second a video message from the balcony: “I just left the hospital and learned so much about the corona virus. One thing is for sure: don’t let it dominate you. Don’t be afraid of it. You will beat it. We’ve developed the best medical equipment, the best medicine, all recently. I didn’t feel very well, but I could have left two days ago, I felt fantastic, better than 20 years ago. ”

“Don’t let it take over your life,” Trump said. “We are the best country in the world. We’re going back to work. As your leader, I had to do that – I knew there was danger in it, but I had to do it. I was in the front, I led. No one who’s a leader wouldn’t do what I did. I knew there was a risk, but that’s okay. I’m better now. And maybe I’m immune, I don’t know. But don’t let it dominate your life, get out, be careful. We have the best medicines in the world and the vaccines are coming soon. ”

Fever free

During a press briefing before Trump left the hospital, his doctor Sean Conley declined to comment on the controversial tweet. “I’m not going to respond to what the president says,” he said with a scornful smile on his face.

Conley emphasized that all criteria for hospital discharge have been met. “He’s not completely out of harm’s way yet, but his condition certainly allows him to go home,” he said. Trump has been fever-free for 72 hours and his oxygen levels are also good enough, according to Conley. “He has no side effects from the treatment or from the disease. You’ve seen the tweets and the videos: he’s back. The president has not complained, he has been a fantastic patient. ”

Trump will receive further treatment in the White House. It will be monitored around the clock by “the very best nursing staff in the world,” said Conley.

According to his campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh, the president plans to enter into a debate with his opponent Joe Biden on Oct. 15. Trump also announced via Twitter that he wants to campaign again soon.
