Donald Trump said yesterday that he nearly died in a helicopter crash in which he was riding with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, Reuters reported.
Brown denies that such an incident took place, and another politician said he had a similar trip with Trump decades ago.
“I got on a helicopter with him,” Trump said at a news conference. “We thought that was the end of it. We were traveling by helicopter to a place and there was an emergency landing. It wasn’t a pleasant landing and Willie was a bit worried,” he added.
Brown is a longtime influential Democrat who served as speaker of the California state legislature and briefly dated current Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris decades ago.
Trump said Brown told him “terrible things” about Harris.
After Trump’s press conference, Brown told the San Francisco Chronicle that he was never in a helicopter with the former president and denied ever saying anything bad about Harris.
Another California politician, Nate Holden, told Politico last night that he had a similarly turbulent helicopter ride with Trump in New Jersey, possibly in 1990.
