Trump shares video with white power slogans – World

US President Donald Trump retweeted a video on Twitter on Sunday calling out “white power,” a racist slogan of far-right nationalists. The retweet disappeared a few hours later.

The images show how supporters and opponents of the President yell at each other. A Trump supporter shouts ‘white power’ from a golf cart.

Trump shared the video via a retweet with the caption “Thanks to the wonderful people at The Villages,” referring to the Florida site where the footage was said to have been taken.

Senator Tim Scott, the only black Republican in the Senate, responded quickly. “He shouldn’t have retweeted this and should have taken it away,” he said on CNN. “It is offensive.”

After a few hours, the video of Trump’s Twitter timeline disappeared. The White House said the president hadn’t heard “the one statement” in the video. “What he had seen was great enthusiasm from his many supporters,” said spokesman Judd Deere.
